Soul Sensation: Lee Fields & Leon Michels Interview

Lee Fields is a straight up soul survivor. With over 20 releases to his name, Lee began singing in church in his hometown of Wilson, North Carolina.  After playing college circuits for a few years, Fields released his first 7″ on London records and has never looked back.

Leon Michels youthful looks underscore his musical sophistication.  A veteran producer saxophonist and organist, Michels has worked in sessions ranging from Amy Winehouse to Sharon Jones as well as a host of bands reknown for bringing da funk. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg; Michels, with his partner Jeff Silverman own Truth & Soul Records a powerhouse of classic funk and soul aesthetic mixed with modern production and perhaps best exemplified by his namesake group The El Michels Affair.
